Oh, the Title!

So... my first blog.  It sounds so simple when people recommend creating a blog.  But something they always seem to neglect to mention is "Plan on spending way too much time obsessing over the name!"

I want a blog that is open enough to put anything I feel to be of value in it.  I have a career that I love as a software developer, and there are lots of thoughts I'd like to jot down about Javascript, CSS, and web development practices.  But I'm also a devoted husband and father, and I like to think I've learned a few valuable things in that arena too.  And oddly, I'm also very involved in the world of musical theater as a producer, director, choreographer, performer, and playwright.

So what ties these together?  What can I say about my perspective and aspirations in life as they pertain to each of these things.

Performed Well.

I write this title with as much poise and confidence as I would have if I hadn't spent two hours deliberating over it.  I'll stand behind my blog title like it came to me instantly.  Like it was my first choice.  Like I hadn't googled for a dozen other domain names that were already taken.

Performed Well.

I don't insist on perfection when I direct actors on stage.  I don't claim to be a perfect father or husband, and I don't expect that my NodeJS program will work flawlessly the first time.  But something I honestly do expect of my actors, my software, and myself is that, when looking back, we will all have performed well.

Never been a blogger before, and honestly, I don't know yet whether I will actually keep up with it (is it okay to admit that on the first post?), but for now, I like the idea.  So... here's hoping it performs well.

  1. At least you took the first step and actually did a post. I have often toyed with doing one. You probably have thought same thing: "who wants to read my stuff?" Well.....I'M HERE! That's a start, right?

Good to see you at West Side Story last night. BTW, Jeff Martin the conductor is also the choir director at Colonial and we used to sing in the choir and ensembles.
