Worst Fast Food Experience of our Lives

Last week, Christine and I were in Philadelphia, PA for a convention.  And for whatever reason, we decided to eat at the McDonald's across the street from the convention center.  There were so many poor quality little things about this fast food experience that it became comical to think through them all.  I'll list a few here:

  1. The floors were very sticky.
  2. No tables were clean.  Christine ended up cleaning a table herself with the cleaning fluid that was on the counter.
  3. One of the two soda machines was completely boarded up.
  4. There was no ice in the ice machine on the other soda machine.
  5. I asked for more ice, and the lady on break said "You have to wait.  I'm the one who gets the ice, but i'm on break now, so you have to wait."
  6. I asked over the counter for more ice, and they just told each other, but nobody even attempted to remedy the situation.
  7. So I waited for ice, and when the lady on break got it (after her break was done), she just set the bucket next to the machine, so that I and several others could scoop our cups in it to get ice.
  8. The Diet Coke came out as completely clear (i.e. no syrup).
  9. The only self-serve item was lids.  The station had no straws, ketchup, napkins, salt, pepper or anything else except lids.  We had to ask for these at the counter.
  10. The fries were completely cold and stale (worst I've ever had without waiting to eat them).
  11. When I asked for more fries, the employee threw out the fries I gave her and didn't get me new ones.
  12. I asked another employee for fries, and he gave me fresh ones, but they were unsalted (i watched them come out and go into the fry bin, and the salt shaker was right there but was not used).
  13. The quarter pounder with cheese was actually cold and fully pink on the inside.
  14. I asked for a new one and they forgot to make it for me until i reminded them two more times.

When we left we started thinking about the Chick-fil-A model where every owner only has one store.  This kind of experience could almost never happen in a store where the owner is heavily invested in that store's success or failure.  Anyway.  I don't wish to make too much of it, but this was an interesting experience nonetheless.
